Good morning everybody! I've been making lists like CRAZY over here, trying to prep for a million things at once! Christmas, New Year's, and of course the baby! So I'm going to share some of the things I plan on packing in our hospital bags.
Lucy's Hospital Bag:
Gowns//Sweater Pants//Red Bodysuit//Headband//Fox Lovie//Pacifier//Swaddler//Receiving Blanket//Socks//Diapers//Wipes//Baby Book
Gowns: I'm bringing a couple gowns for her to wear during our hospital stay. I've heard it's best to leave their feet readily accessible since that's where their ankle bracelet is and will be checked frequently.
Headband/Outfit: The headband and fair isle outfit are her coming home outfit (as of today. I've changed my mind about a million times!). The outfit is from Osh Kosh and is sooo soft and teeny! The headband is from etsy. There are lots of options available; my mom gave me like a zillion of these so I'm not sure exactly which shop mine is from.
Paci: I plan on breastfeeding, but I am bringing a pacifier just in case. Target gave me this one in a goodie bag when I created my registry there, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't bringing it simply because it's so darn tiny and cute! Literally, like the size of a quarter!
Fox Lovie: The little fox lovie is my favorite part! I know it's not very girly, but Preston saw it and picked it out for her and that is just so special to me! So I want to give it to her right away :)
SwaddleMe: Call it a wrap, call it a swaddler, whatever it is just too cute. They had tons of adorable patterns, but how could I say no to chevron??
Blanket: She's definitely going to need a blanket. I'm planning on bringing that blue and pink floral one from Carter's. It's actually one of the first things we bought for her, and I have a matching sleeper, too. It's a size too big to bring her home in, though.
Socks: Standard. Carter's. Tiny. She's going to need them when she's not wearing a footed sleeper.
Diapers/Wipes: I know the hospital will give her diapers and wipes (probably Pampers Swaddlers or Huggies, both of which are totally fine), but I have always suffered from such dry, sensitive skin, so I bought her a few packs of diapers and wipes from The Honest Company. All of their products are natural and free of harsh chemicals and dyes, perfect for her brand new baby skin. Again, I had to pick chevron :)
Baby Book: Last, but certainly not least, her baby book is coming along! I want it readily at hand so I don't forget to jot down all the important facts like her time of birth, height, weight, etc.! Who knows when I'll get around to it once I get home!
For the Car:
Car Seat: We have the Britax B Safe Infant car seat. Ours came as a travel system with the Britax B Agile Stroller as well and so far we love it! I used the stroller on my 2 year old sister, Lila and it was so lightweight! Plus I can close it and open it with one hand! The car seat is fairly light, too and is super easy to latch on and off of the base.
Head Support: I've heard much debate about having a head rest in the car seat. But honestly, I don't love the idea of her head just jostling around in there when it's so small. I don't really see the difference between having a real head support and rolling up a blanket behind their neck when it comes to safety, so I purchased a head support.
Car Seat Cover: I have this beige one from JJ Cole and I love it! It has elastic to stretch over the seat easily, an open flap that folds down to see baby quickly, and then unzips all the way around so you can easily remove baby from the seat without having to take the cover all the way off! It's super soft and washable as well :)
Diaper Bag: Again, I'm in love with this bag! I can't say enough good things about it! It's small enough that it doesn't look ridiculous on my petite frame but roomy enough to carry everything I need and more!
Backseat Mirror: I love this adorable owl mirror from Skip Hop! It goes on the back of seat, facing baby, so baby can see themselves (and the cute owl!) and mommy or daddy can see baby's reflection! Much better than those silly mirror bubbles you put by your rearview mirror. Those are terrible.
Nursing Cover: I'm definitely going to need one of these! I do plan on pumping and giving her a bottle as well, but not at first. This one is too cute, and they have free (just pay shipping) cover codes all the time!
Nipple Cream: Because I've heard it is not pleasant at first and your nips will thank you. This kind is supposed to be safe for baby.
Breast Pads: I got a box of disposables. There are tons of different brands out there, I just got Nuk to start.
Tumbler: I've been drinking a ton of water during my pregnancy, and I know I'm only going to drink more while breastfeeding! This adorable Lilly Pulitzer Tumbler will come in handy :)
Boppy: I'm not sure if I'll really need this for nursing or not, but I am bringing it with me because I know it will help my little sisters (ages 4 and 2) hold her when they visit!
Phew! That seems like a lot, and that's not even mine or Preston's bags! I guess I'd rather be over-packed than under packed, though! What essentials did you bring to the hospital with you? Is there anything that's completely unnecessary or totally important?
