Springfield Weekend Trip

Last week, my family all met up in Springfield, IL to spend some time with my brother and his fiancee. We mostly spent time together, but we saw some of the sights in the area, including the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum.

The museum had so many amazing wax depictions of Lincoln's life. They were really lifelike with crazy attention to detail--down to the freckles! I loved seeing Mary Todd's collection of dresses :)

The kids loved pushing Lucy around town ;)

My brother took us to a restaurant called Brickhouse to try the Springfield original Horseshoe Sandwich. I should have taken a picture of it, but it was so good we all just dug right in! Here's a pic from the restaurant's website. Don't know what a Horseshoe is? It's a slice of texas toast topped with a hamburger patty and a heaping pile of french fries all smothered in a decadent cheese sauce. To say it was to die for would be an understatement.

My dad is a nature nut and animals basically flock to him! He's not afraid of anything. He found this locust and just picked it up and plopped it on his arm. The girls were curious but nervous...I don't blame them!

We took a break at the park and let the kids play. Lucy loves swings and enjoyed this bouncy rocking horse toy too!

Me and my beautiful sister, Hannah!

Lucy loves her daddy! I love watching them together. I just melt!

We goofed off in the hotel room for a while before bedtime. This was a Snapchat gem ;) my username is @heyryahk if you'd like to follow! I don't post much, and when I do it's mostly Lucy ;)

She fell asleep on her Pops right before it was time to head home.

We got in a few impromptu family photos while we were at it :) I am just in love with the picture of my Mom, Grandma, Lucy and I. Four generations!

^My very favorite photo!^ All four generations, and Lucy is grinning so big! Definitely one to be framed :)

Love my little family!

I'm so glad I was able to spend some time with my family for a weekend. It was short but sweet and I'll be seeing them again in a couple weeks for Labor Day weekend.
