Homecoming Voxbox | Unboxing & Reviews

Happy Thursday ya'll!

Last week I received 3 VoxBoxes from Influenster! Three in a row! That's crazy. I'm planning to have a full review of each box in the next week or two, but I'll start with this one since it came in first.

This box was the Homecoming VoxBox. Here's what it contained:

Olay Active Botanicals Refreshing Gel Cleanser // So far I like this. It gets the job done and my face feels soft after using it, but it isn't really giving me any amazing results. One thing I do really like about it is the texture. The gel formula feels cool and refreshing on my skin and it really goes a long way. The first time I used it I went for my usual pea-sized amount and it was almost twice as much as necessary! It doesn't irritate my sensitive skin, but I do have to be careful around the eyes; something I don't have to do with my philosophy Purity face wash. All in all, a decent product if you're looking for an affordable drugstore cleanser, but I'll stick to my Purity thank you very much.

Kettle Brand Jalapeno Potato Chips // So, I'm not a fan of spicy. Especially when I already have plenty of heartburn to thank pregnancy for. As soon as I saw these in the box I handed them straight to Preston. He's a spice lover so I knew he would enjoy these. He took them in his lunch for work and had a few comments when he came home: 1.) They're a good kettle. Not so crunchy that they nearly break your teeth, but not completely soft like a regular chip. 2.) The flavor was like a mildly spicy barbecue chip. 3.) I'd buy them again.

Well, there ya go.

Red Vines Original Red Licorice Twists // Preston and I both tried these, and sorry, but....these are nasty. As Preston described them "they taste like old people candy". Yeah. It was like biting into a leathery, powdery piece of cough medicine. Stick to Twizzlers ya'll.

Luden's Watermelon Throat Drops // If you've never had a Luden's cough drop you're missing out. The cherry ones are the best ever. They don't even taste like medicine, they taste like straight up candy! So of course I was excited to get a new flavor. This one did not disappoint. It tastes just like a watermelon Jolly Rancher! There is just a hint of menthol in there as well, but it doesn't affect the taste. It's hard to say how they work when I don't actually have a sore throat, but speaking from previous experience with Luden's, I'd say they get the job done.

Sinful Colors SinfulShine Nail Polish in Wisp and SinfulShine Top Coat // So funny story on this...I actually already had white, so I went to Walmart and bought the SinfulShine nail color in Tan Lines. Seeing as it's fall now, I thought this was a more appropriate shade. Anyway, I really liked these polishes at first. The cost is definitely affordable at around $3 a bottle; not bad for a DIY gel mani and cheaper than most regular drugstore polishes. The formula is thick in a good way. It only took one coat to get full color payoff. It dried fairly quickly, though  not any quicker than most nail polishes (not that it claims to). The top coat is nice too. It smoothed out any imperfections in the color coat and also dried quickly. Both polishes leave a beautiful shine. My one and only complaint is that 4 days in they started to chip. Not a lot, but just enough; mostly on the tips. I don't use my hands near as much as I used to and I finally have a working dishwasher so I can't blame dishes either. Looks like it just isn't as long lasting as it claims to be. But really, for a $3 nail polish what do you expect? I think the formula makes this polish and is totally worth a touch up here and there at such a great price.

So that's the Homecoming VoxBox! Anybody else get this one? What did you think? I felt like the contents were really random. I'd rate this box a 3/5.
