Easy Cheesy Tater Tot Casserole {feat. Ore Ida Tater Tots}


Who else loves a quick, cheap, easy meal? No, casseroles are never very pretty, but this one is so yummy and so perfect for a busy weeknight meal on a budget. It's a favorite in this house!

It's literally only 4 ingredients:


Shredded cheese, ground beef, cream of mushroom soup, and tater tots. Seriously, that's it! Talk about simple. (And yes, my cutting board is shaped like America. Find it here.)

The star of this show? Definitely the tater tots. While the inner parts of the casserole are a gooey, cheesy wonderland, the crispy crunchy tots totally make the dish. I am usually a generic gal (Aldi is my BFF!) but these Ore Ida Tater Tots are totally worth the extra dollar or so. They stay crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a fresher taste than most generic brands. I also feel like I got more in the bag than my usual Aldi version, which is an added bonus. Even if you're not into name brand foods, Ore Ida is worth checking out for their wide selection alone...I never knew they made so many different types of potatoes! All shapes of fries, hashbrowns, tots, crowns, wedges, etc...the varieties seemed endless!

So shall we get to cookin'?



First you'll want to brown and crumble your ground beef in a skillet and drain the grease. That's the most time-consuming part of this whole recipe, and how hard is that, right? If you're in a hurry or just have great time management skills you could even have this prepped and ready the night before.


Toss the burger, shredded cheese, and cream of mushroom soup in a bowl and mix away! Just combine them all and spread it in a casserole dish.


Top with frozen tater tots and bake!


Like I said, not the prettiest recipe out there, but sometimes those are the tastiest, amirite?




Easy, Cheesy, Tater Tot Casserole

Ingredients: 1lb ground beef (browned and crumbled), 3 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or colby jack, divided 2 and 1), 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 1/2 bag frozen Ore Ida Tater Tots

Mix burger, cream of mushroom soup and 2 cups of cheese until just combined. Pour and spread evenly into a greased baking dish (I used a 9x9). Top with extra cup of cheese and frozen tater tots. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 min (or 350 for 1 hour) or until tots are done to desired crispiness. Enjoy!

This is the perfect meal for those busy weeknights and it's totally kid-approved! It'll be popping up on your weekly rotation in no time ;)
