Newborn Must-Haves

We are loving having our sweet little guy home with us! It makes Lucy seem so big and independent (when she doesn't want mama). It's only been 16 months since I had a newborn in the house, but I find myself learning new tricks and loving new products with a newborn all over again!

Some of these items were favorites with Lucy, and for good reason. I thought I'd share some of my newborn must-haves with y'all today, from sleeping and eating to bath time and travel:

Summer Infant SwaddleMe // The very best sleep aid we could have asked for with Lucy. Newborns love to be swaddled because it reminds them of those close quarters they've been used to for the last 9 months. We chose these velcro swaddles over blankets because they allowed for a snugger and more secure swaddle, and they are easier to wean baby from than the zip-up kind!

Fisher Price Rock n Play // Another nighttime life-saver: the Rock n Play. No doubt, you've heard of these by now, and for good reason. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to be able to just lean over in the middle of the night to gently rock Parker back to sleep. The slight incline is also great for babies with reflux...even better? There's a new version that rocks itself! Are you kidding me?! The new model also allows you to change the amount of incline, which would come in super handy with weaning baby as he gets too big.

Ingenuity SmartBounce Automatic Bouncer // Speaking of automatic greatness, how cool is a bouncy seat that bounces on its own?! I am so excited to have one for Parker, since my hands are pretty full with 2 under 2!

Blooming Bath // My mom always bathed us kids in the sink for the first several months. It's just so much easier than trying to bend over the tub, and trust me, newborns take a lot of baths once those lovely blowouts start up. The Blooming Bath is basically a super soft, super squishy bath mat that fits perfectly in your sink for itty bitty baths. We used it for at least 5 or 6 months with Lucy because she didn't start bathing in the tub until she could sit up on her own pretty well. I love that she was able to stay comfy and safe in the sink for so long.

Honest Company 2-in-1 Body Wash // We swore by Johnson & Johnson 2-in-1 for so long, but when Lucy's cradle cap wouldn't let up, I knew I had to try something more natural. The Honest Company body wash cleared her cradle cap in one wash! And it smells great! Is it any wonder that my pediatrician said the Johnson & Johnson wash is the absolute worst thing you can use on a baby? Apparently, it's extremely drying!

Aquaphor Healing Ointment // That sweet, fresh newborn skin is not always as soft as one would hope. We love Aquaphor ointment to battle the peeling skin in the early days, and when that clears up we use it for diaper rashes.

Gerber Prefold Diapers // No, not for diapering...for burp cloths! These prefolds fit perfectly in the diaper bag and are super absorbent, making them the perfect burp towel! My mom used them for years and always bought the plain white ones and added fabric or monograms to dress them up ;)

Lansinoh Lanolin // Your nipples will thank you. I promise. And when you're done using it there, slather it on your lips for a great overnight balm or use it on diaper rashes and eczema outbreaks.

Medela Pump in Style Breast Pump // Check with your insurance about what breast pumps may be available to you for free! Mine supplied me with the Medela Pump in Style and I love how easy it is to use and take on our trips to Kentucky. As a SAHM, I don't need to pump much, so having the insurance supply my pump was a great way to save $300 and it still gets plenty of use.

JJ Cole Car Seat Head Support // I know, there is a lot of controversy around using head supports in the car seat, but I just felt so much better about having my tiny baby's head secure in the seat rather than flopping side to side because the seat is simply too big at first. Once Lucy held her head better and fit in the seat a little more securely, we ditched the support.

Loyal Hana "Marni" Jumpsuit // You'll remember this beauty from my Perfect Everyday Jumpsuit post a few weeks back. I don't know if I can ever stop raving about it! Breastfeeding should not have to be synonymous with frumpy or immodest. Loyal Hana makes gorgeous, fashion-forward clothing that makes nursing so discreet and easy! That is definitely a must have!

Nursing Camisoles // I basically lived in nursing camis in those first days at home. I love how easy it was to just clip down the strap and feed Lucy, especially when I was first learning everything. I had everything from Old Navy to Walmart brand and never really found a preference. They're all about the same, but they're all amazing!

Motherhood Seamless Clip Down Nursing Bras // The ONLY nursing bras I like. I have 3 right now and I haven't stopped wearing them since I stopped nursing Lucy. The comfiest bra ever and still plenty of support even without the underwire (bad for breastfeeding). There's a reason these are a Motherhood Maternity customer favorite!

Pampers Swaddlers Diapers // My favorite diapers of all time. I recently switched Lucy to Luvs because they are cheaper and she doesn't go nearly as frequently at this point, but we used Swaddlers for sizes Newborn through 3 and plan to again with Parker. I still use them on Lucy when I can find them on sale ;)

Huggies Natural Care Wipes // My favorite wipes! I seriously hate Pampers wipes with a passion. They are thin and soapy, and the Huggies are super thick and sturdy and made mostly of water which is much better for sensitive bottoms.
