May 2015 - Like Honey

Fave Five Friday

Happy Friday loves! I had a pretty low key week. Let me recap it for you:

Happy Memorial Day! Romper from Carter's, Headband DIY from an old t-shirt!
5.) We spent Memorial Day BBQing with my in-laws. Lucy enjoyed being outdoors and finally got to wear her Summer romper! Uncle Brandon was a Marine and my dad (Pops) was in the Navy, so she wore anchors for them :)

Sorry for the junk iPhone pic--just before a 1 mile walk with my family :)

4.) I spent every morning this week working out! I'm so proud of myself for sticking with it. I don't really need to lose weight or anything, but I would like to tone up before summer vacation, and just get healthier in general. I've been using the Tone It Up Bikini Series and loving it! You can find these lovely ladies on Youtube or buy a DVD here. Yesterday I did 1 hour of TIU videos and then went on a 1 mile walk with Preston, Lucy, & Winston to cool off. I'm already seeing small results and it's only been a week!

Another junky photo...my hard-working hubby!
3.) We finally got an engine for my SUV! My sweet hubby has been working hard on fixing it the last few days. So grateful & glad I have a man who knows how to fix anything!

2.) Lucy has learned a new trick! She used to jabber and "talk" all the time...now she's found her voice and likes to holler! She gets so loud! Haha.

Family photo outfit: Dress, Charming Charlie (old), Shoes, Payless (old)

1.) Today I'm hitting the grocery store and baking some M&M Cookies for my MOPS picnic on Sunday. Then we're having family photos with the in-laws for the anniversary of the day my husband and his siblings were adopted! It should be a fun, full day :)

TGIF ladies! I hope your weekend is great!

Home Sweet Home

I love dreaming about my one-day, forever home and all the different decor ideas I'll be putting into it! There are so many options and styles to go with...I'm glad I have some time to figure out what I truly want in a home! But for now, while I'm swapping realtors for rentals, I thought I'd share some beautiful homes and interiors I've seen floating around the web! Enjoy!
via
What a bright, beautiful living room! I feel like I would be nothing but creative in there! I love all the peppy colors and retro accents. And who doesn't die over a pop of gold?

via
I love this neutral bathroom! It just looks so clean and refreshing. Exactly what a bathroom should be.

via
Holy cozy! This looks so comfy and romantic! Makes me want to snuggle up to my hubby with a glass of wine and enjoy some of those s'mores together.

via
A pretty, retro inspired patio! I love eating and relaxing outdoors, so I'm super excited to one day have a nice deck or patio to enjoy all summer long.

via
A dining room fit for a dinner party. I love the chairs and have always envisioned a navy blue dining room. Is that weird? That's probably weird. Whatever. I have a vintage wood dining table with gold trim and legs that I just think would look beautiful surrounded by navy blue walls, with a gold starburst clock above a mid-century china cabinet. Did I mention I'm a dreamer? Yeah.
via
Wow! How could you not be constantly happy in such a cheerful, colorful kitchen? I love the mint cabinets and all the pastel utensils and pans. That stove looks a little small, but you know, inspiration is not the same as imitation. ;)

What details do you dream about for your home? Are you as big of a future-thinker as I am?

Happy Memorial Day!

Hey ya'll! Just wanted to drop a quick line to say Happy Memorial Day! I hope you all had a good weekend and have an even better Monday. While you're lounging at the pool or enjoying your evening BBQ, remember all of those who fought for us and lost their lives. Pray for their families. Today is a day to remember those who defended our country until the very end. I am so grateful for their sacrifice, and for all those retired or currently fighting. Thank you!

Fave Five Friday

Happy Friday, friends! I'm gearing up for our Branson trip in 4 weeks and I've been craving a summertime shopping trip! I'm in love with all the boho, embroidery, and tassels on everything this season, and I'm actually not shying away from neons for once! Here are a few of my faves I've seen this week:

Target, $17
I've been crushing on this neon tassel clutch after seeing it all over instagram. It's the perfect summer accessory, especially for mamas like me who have to carry diaper bags instead of a purse--it's quick and easy to toss in with Lucy's things while keeping mine separate.
Old Navy, $30 $26
I love a good straw tote during the summer. This one from Old Navy is no exception. I really like the nautical feel this gets from the stripes, but the pom poms are obviously my favorite part ;)

Purple Peridot, $30, $20
I'm obsessed with this ombre tassel necklace from Purple Peridot! It comes in cobalt blue as well. I'm not sure if I can justify spending $20 on a necklace that's so trendy, but I might just have to cave. Or maybe try out a DIY version? Let me know what you think!

Nordstrom, $65, $39

Nordstrom is having their Half Yearly sale right now, and I'm swooning over some of these Kendra Scott markdowns! This statement cuff is sooo pretty, and 40% off!

Lilly Pulitzer, $48
Now, I could never (well, maybe) allow myself to spend almost $50 on an outfit for Lucy...she'll only grow out of it in a couple months! But this Lilly Pulitzer baby shift is sooo tempting!! It's perfect for Fourth of July and our Branson trip...especially with all the sailboats on it, I can just see her wearing it for our day on the lake! Too bad she grows so dang quickly! Did I tell you she's in 3-6 month clothing now? My heart can't handle it!

TGIF guys! I hope you're able to enjoy this Memorial Day weekend and remember those whom we lost for our freedom.

Fave Five Friday

Happy Friyay! I hope all you mamas had a wonderful Mother's Day to start off your week!

5.) This year was my very first Mother's Day! I missed the celebration by one day in 2014 -- I got my positive pregnancy test the day after! Haha. So this time I got to celebrate for real.We went to church in the morning, then Qdoba for lunch afterwards. After our meal, we headed to our favorite vintage store in St Louis: TFA. It's the very best! Orange Leaf also had free frozen yogurt for moms, so of course, I had to get some! The rest of our day was pretty low key: visiting with the in-laws, Downton Abbey re-runs and the hubby cooked me dinner! :)

4.) Monday was Lucy's 4 month doctors visit...poor baby got 2 shots and some drops. But she's a trooper and did really well! On a happier note, our sweet pea is now 4 months old! I can't believe how fast time is flying! You can read her 4 Month Update, here.

2.) Tuesday, I went shopping with my sister-in-law. We didn't get to go to too many places (babies really slow you down!), but I did come home with this gorgeous maxi and a super cute romper for Lucy. It was on sale for $6 plus I had a $5 reward so I got it for $1!

Cherry Romper
1.) Wednesday was a little more calm. Lucy and I headed over to a friend's house for a playdate in the morning. She had fun watching the big boys run and play, plus got in some girl time with her bestie ;) They like to watch each other and gab away.

1.) Thursday was also pretty mellow, yet busy: I spent it doing all my prep work for today's MOPS event! We are having an end of the year bash and it's 80's themed! I'm bringing mini s'mores cupcakes and dressing up as Sandy from Grease ;)

I can't wait!

How was your week? I hope your weekend looks as promising as mine!

Four Month Update!

A few days late on here, but Lucy Jane is 4 months old!!!

She is so calm and happy all the time! The only time she fusses is when she's hungry or too tired to sleep (and when she fusses, she fusses, haha)
She recently started really "playing" with and showing interest in toys. And they all go straight to her mouth! I think she may be in the early stages of teething; her hands are almost always in her mouth and she drools constantly!

She also loves bath time, watching whatever is going on around her and talking non-stop.

She lights up my life and I can't believe how fast she's growing. We love you, Lucy!

Fave Five Friday: Mother's Day Weekend

This Mother's Day is my very first, and I must say, though it's only been 4 months, I am really loving being a mommy. Lucy brightens my life to a whole new level I never thought possible. I love watching her grow and change and learn. And when she smiles simply because she sees my face, I melt. I love being her mama and I can't imagine life without her!

5.) My mom always collected the Willow Tree figurines (she has the entire nativity set!) and I always think of her when I see them. Soon after I had Lucy I got this one and it may be the start of my own collection. I love that it embodies everything about my family right now and when I see it I am reminded how perfect my life is, even when it isn't.

4.) I cannot be the mother I need or want to be without Him. He must come first and as a busy mom myself, I find myself caught up in the whirlwind of life and parenthood, forgetting to pray and praise the God who gave me my family. Devotionals have helped me to keep God more of a daily part of my life, as He should be! I'm much less forgetful when I have a daily reminder at my bedside.

3.) Spa and pamper nights are few and far between for me as a mom. But I think this Mother's Day I will treat myself to a Lush bomb bath and a face mask. 'Cause I've earned it, right?

2.) One of my favorite restaurants ever is Olive Garden. My hubby knows it and I'm hoping he decides to take me out to dinner this weekend ;) I know it's not about the gifts, but it sure is nice to be appreciated, especially by the father of your children! It's just that extra assurance from the only other person who sees you parent your child every single day, that little affirmation that you're doing everything right. Sometimes that's all I need.

1.) This sweetheart is my number one each and every day! She lights up my life and is absolutely an answered prayer. I love her more and more each day and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for her, and for me as a mother!

Thanks for joining me for Fave Five Friday! What are you loving this weekend? How will you be celebrating Mother's Day?
