August 2015 - Like Honey

Favorite Fall Polishes

September is almost here, which means I can whip out all my fall decorations, sweaters, knee-high boots, and of course, the dark nail polishes! Here are a few of my favorite shades for fall:

I love everything from a deep burgundy, to a pale pink nude, to a metallic rose gold in the fall! I'm also really loving that deep navy blue shade! What are you favorite fall hues? Any polishes I should check out?

Fave Five Friday

Happy Friday, ya'll! We've had a pretty boring week over here, but sometimes that's totally okay. Here's what we've been up to:

floral set // leopard set
5.) Surely I'm not the only mom who uses gift cards on their kid instead of themselves, right? I got a few Kohl's gift cards for my birthday and decided I couldn't resist snagging some sweet fall outfits for miss Lucy. These are a couple of the outfits that came home with me :)

4.) Did you catch my most recent outfit post? I'm really in love with this $5 tank I scored from TJ Maxx!

3.) We had a fun playdate at the zoo early this week. It was a lot of fun and we finally got to see the new polar bear!

2.) Lucy is becoming a bit of a ham. This Snapchat gem is just one of her new favorite tricks to show off with. (I'm @heyryahk if you want to follow along!)

Mirina Collections "Andy" Necklace
1.) Did you see this gorgeous Mirina Collections necklace on my Instagram (@faithandfashblog)? I'm so obsessed with it. I think I've worn it every day since I got it in the mail. Sooo so pretty! There are tons of famous necklaces to choose from and all kinds of pieces for all budgets, plus you can use code "faith20" to receive 20% off any item you choose!

Happy Friday! Hope a great weekend is ahead for everyone!

Cobalt Tank

I never thought such a bright, blue tank would be so versatile! I found this beauty for $4.50 on clearance at TJ Maxx and it's been a staple in my closet since then. I love that I can dress it up for church or girl's night or just toss it on under my moto jacket with a pair of jeans and flats for everyday. Also how cute is this purse?! It's the Steve Madden BNeptune bag from a few years ago, but it's still available in some places online; I'm sure eBay has one or two. I love that it hasn't gone out of style (at least I don't think so) so I've gotten a ton of use out of it!

Fave Five Friday: Catching Up

TGIF! This has been a super busy week! I had something to do almost every single day and tomorrow will be more of the same. It's supposed to be a Fave Five but I had so much going on I thought I'd skip counting and just do a little catch up post! But before I launch into a novel, let me just say I am super excited to be this week's featured blogger for High Five for Friday! It's hosted by some of the sweetest ladies and it is such a privilege to be featured on their blogs today! You can check them out by clicking their blog names below!

Saturday: I love that my hubby has weekends off now! Retail scheduling is no fun, and I am glad to be rid of it! We spent Saturday doing some pre-birthday shopping and enjoyed lunch at one of my favorite fast food places (besides Chick-fil-a), Steak n Shake! Did you know you get a free meal on your birthday?! You can sign up here to reap all the tasty benefits ;) And ICYMI - I also posted my Fall 2015 Wishlist! You can find it here.

Sunday: Happy birthday to me! It was a low key celebration, but we got to spend some quiet time at home as a family before heading out to dinner, sans baby :) I ordered my first legal glass of wine and they didn't even card me! So much for that!

Avengers poster, lego bunting, and Thor's hammer cupcakes!
Monday: After an early morning MOPS meeting (that I almost forgot!), I got busy crafting up a storm. I made all the decorations for my nephew's 7th birthday party! It turned out super cute.

Tuesday: Tuesday was spent adding the final touches to the party decor and then the celebrations began!

Wednesday: I got some much needed cleaning done on Wednesday. I also started a game plan to help my in-laws tackle some of their excess clutter and shared some photos from my recent trip to Springfield, IL on the blog! You can check that post out here. All in all, a fairly productive day.

Thursday: Finally a more relaxed day. I worked on my meal plan for next week and made a grocery list, as well as working on some small projects around the house. Pretty mundane.
Friday: Today is grocery shopping day! We usually hit up Aldi for about 85% of our groceries and get the rest at Target or Walmart or any local store that's having a sale. Did you know Aldi & Trader Joe's are owned by the same company? I keep finding foods at Aldi that are exactly the same as Trader Joe's only under a different name and less than half the TJ cost!

Saturday: Tomorrow is party day for me! Some lovely MOPS mamas got together and organized a little outing to celebrate my birthday. We're hitting up Pi Pizzeria for dinner and following up with cocktails and bowling at PinUp Bowl in the Loop. It's sure to be a ton of fun, and I'm sure I'll have an update at next week's Fave Five ;)

And on top of all of that, Lucy said her first word! It was "dada" of course ;)

Well that's it! Whew. I feel tired just recapping all of that. Thank goodness for a potentially relaxing Sunday! Happy weekend, loves!

Springfield Weekend Trip

Last week, my family all met up in Springfield, IL to spend some time with my brother and his fiancee. We mostly spent time together, but we saw some of the sights in the area, including the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum.

The museum had so many amazing wax depictions of Lincoln's life. They were really lifelike with crazy attention to detail--down to the freckles! I loved seeing Mary Todd's collection of dresses :)

The kids loved pushing Lucy around town ;)

My brother took us to a restaurant called Brickhouse to try the Springfield original Horseshoe Sandwich. I should have taken a picture of it, but it was so good we all just dug right in! Here's a pic from the restaurant's website. Don't know what a Horseshoe is? It's a slice of texas toast topped with a hamburger patty and a heaping pile of french fries all smothered in a decadent cheese sauce. To say it was to die for would be an understatement.

My dad is a nature nut and animals basically flock to him! He's not afraid of anything. He found this locust and just picked it up and plopped it on his arm. The girls were curious but nervous...I don't blame them!

We took a break at the park and let the kids play. Lucy loves swings and enjoyed this bouncy rocking horse toy too!

Me and my beautiful sister, Hannah!

Lucy loves her daddy! I love watching them together. I just melt!

We goofed off in the hotel room for a while before bedtime. This was a Snapchat gem ;) my username is @heyryahk if you'd like to follow! I don't post much, and when I do it's mostly Lucy ;)

She fell asleep on her Pops right before it was time to head home.

We got in a few impromptu family photos while we were at it :) I am just in love with the picture of my Mom, Grandma, Lucy and I. Four generations!

^My very favorite photo!^ All four generations, and Lucy is grinning so big! Definitely one to be framed :)

Love my little family!

I'm so glad I was able to spend some time with my family for a weekend. It was short but sweet and I'll be seeing them again in a couple weeks for Labor Day weekend.
