September 2015 - Like Honey

BIG Announcement!

Hey ya'll! We have something BIG to share with you today....

We are expecting baby #2! We are SO excited and overwhelmed with love and blessings.

We can't believe that Lucy is going to be a BIG sister!!!

I am so excited (and a little scared!) to be entering the 2 kids stage...let alone having two under 2! They'll be 15 months apart. It will be challenging I'm sure, but I know it will also be so rewarding. I'm already gearing up for double strollers and giant diaper bags. Any other tips fellow mommas? I can use all I can get! Haha.

I can't wait to share our journey with you all as we open yet another new chapter in our lives. We are so unbelievably blessed!!!

Fave Five Friday

TGIF! We are busy running all over town for errands today so I'll just jump right into today's post:

5.) First things first...today at noon I'll be posting my big announcement! I'm so excited to share this news with ya'll. I'll be sharing the big reveal here and on instagram (@faithandfashblog) at noon central time. Stay tuned!

4.) Did you catch my Budget Booties post earlier this week? I shared some adorable and affordable booties from 3 of my favorite stores to shop for cheap shoes. There are a ton of gorgeous options and every single pair is under $50!

3.) I finally received my Homecoming VoxBox! I can't wait to dig into it. I'll be posting an unboxing post later next week, then stay tuned for reviews to come!

*Influenster sent me these products free for testing purposes*

2.) Last weekend we joined some friends for a fun day out in St. Louis. We saw a Blues scrimmage, a hot air balloon race, and enjoyed the new polar bear at the St. Louis Zoo. It was a fun, busy day and Lucy loved every second of it!

1.) I just got a FREE Sam's Club Membership! They recently held a deal for a free membership for new moms and moms-to-be. As I am told, the deal is no longer available unless you have a mailed invite, but I was still able to receive one simply by proving Lucy is under a year old and calling their customer care line. So now that I've got the membership down, who can tell me what some of the best deals at Sam's are? What are your favorite things to buy there and how do their prices compare to say Walmart and Aldi? Let me know!!

Happy weekend, ya'll! I hope to see you back here in 6 hours! ;)

Fave Five Friday

Happy Friday! I've been pretty absent this week, sadly :( It took a little while to get Lucy settled back into her routine at home after a busy week in Kentucky! Here's what I was up to before all that craziness started:

5.) First off, I recapped my Kentucky trip yesterday, where I finally got to meet the lovely Tif from Bright on a Budget and scored a ton of deals on clothes for Lucy! You can check out that fun post here.

4.) It looks random, but hear me out. While I was in Kentucky, my parents volunteered for their church's annual parish garage sale. I tagged along and while we were all unloading boxes, someone came across a pair of Edwardian era women's shoes. I am so mad I didn't think to take a photo of them, so this internet photo will have to do. Anyway, a few workers were discussing how old they looked and what price to put on them. I took a look at them (mind you, I'm no expert but I do love a good pair of shoes) and could tell immediately that they were definitely an antique. Authentic to boot (pun intended)! You could see the nails in the bottom where someone had tirelessly hammered them together, by hand. They had been well taken care of; stuffed with newspaper to hold their shape. I pulled a piece of the newspaper out to hopefully get a time period...the paper was from 1945! On the inside of the shoes was stamped Peters St. Louis MO, an old shoe factory from right here in STL! How crazy that I would come across it in Lexington! I urged the woman running the sale to hold onto them and have them appraised first. I really hope we can learn more about them and just how old they are. They looked identical to the photo above which is dated 1910's. That's over 100 years old! I'm just super excited to have held a piece of history like that in my own hands! Phew. Pat yourself on the back if you got through that novel.

3.) Have you seen the new Starbucks Anniversary travel mugs? I am in love with all of them! I just got the top right geometric one, thanks to a lovely friend! I would love to have that gold Swarovski crystal one, if it wasn't $75! I don't think I could trust myself with an expensive ceramic tumbler...

10 Points if you can name that movie!
2.) I'm about as interested in exercise as Dorothy Shaw. Ain't there anyone here for love? But in all seriousness, I've been trying to keep up with my fitness, at least the bare minimum. Social media is actually the easiest way for me. Let me explain: when someone starts a group for a 30 day planking challenge and you say you'll join, you're then held accountable for keeping up with it. It's a hideous and beautiful thing, friends. If you're looking for a way to keep yourself accountable or just get regular tips, motivation and support, my dearest friend, Joni is a Team Beachbody coach and she is just the sweetest person I know. She's a mama to 2 sweet girls, an Army wife, and a wonderful Christian woman. To join her team or learn more about Team Beachbody, visit here. To like her Facebook page for motivation with a little less commitment, click here and tell her Mariah sent you ;) Another thing I love about her? She doesn't push you to buy any products or guilt you into anything,,,it's pure motivation for a healthy lifestyle. Seriously, check her out.

1.) It's finally fall! Sort of...we've still had some pretty toasty temps, but there's been a few 60/70 degree days thrown in and I'll take all I can get! I'm really looking forward to some of the great fall events coming up in the area, including several pumpkin festivals, hot air balloon races in Forest Park, apple picking and outdoor flea markets, and more. I'm practically booked through October already!

Happy weekend, loves! Hopefully there's some cooler temps coming your way :)

**P.S.: stay tuned next friday for a fun announcement. It's a biggun! You can check in here or catch the reveal on instagram (I'm @faithandfashblog) or snapchat (@heyryahk)**

Fave Five Friday: Lexington KY

Happy Friday from Lexington KY! I'm still with family, so I thought this Friday I'd share 5 of my favorite places in Lex. I actually grew up going here every summer (my grandparents have called Lexington home for longer than I've been alive!). It's my home away from home and I'm so happy to be here again!

{source}
5.) Arboretum // One of my favorite places to go for a walk, especially in the spring and summer. It's just so peaceful and full of beautiful plants and an amazing aroma. They've been adding new gardens in the last few years as well, so I'm looking forward to seeing the expansions while I'm here.

{source}
4.) Joseph-Beth Booksellers // My all time favorite bookstore. With Kindles and eReaders becoming the norm, bookstores are disappearing left and right. I'm happy to say that Joseph-Beth is still standing strong. They frequently host events for children, too which will be perfect for Lucy as she grows up. Definitely check it out at the Lexington-Fayette Mall (another favorite of mine, obviously).

{source}
3.) El Charro Mexican Restaurant // This one is actually a fairly recent discovery for my family. We love Mexican food (although, until I got pregnant with Lucy, I used to hate it!) and when my parents moved from Missouri to Kentucky, they began the search for a new favorite restaurant. This one, so far, is the winner. It's really good! I always get the grilled chicken nachos. Amazing.

{source}
2.) Keeneland Race Track // You can't enjoy Kentucky without enjoying the horses. I haven't been to the races since I was a child, but it's not a memory I'm soon to forget. It's such a fun place to go, especially if you're vacationing. I highly recommend it.

{source}
1.) Jacobson Park // One of my favorite childhood memories was running around with my brothers and sisters in this giant wooden maze of a playground. There are tunnels, slides, secret passageways and portholes all over it. We used to pretend we were royalty and it was our castle, complete with a moat and alligators! Recently there was been rumor of having it torn down. Perhaps it has been deemed unsafe; it is very old after all. But I would much rather see them restore the original structure, as I'm still so attached to it and hope to see all my children enjoy it in their childhoods as much as I did.

Who else has been to Lexington, KY? Do you have a childhood home away from home that you hold dear?

Since today is September 11, I want to remember all those who lost their family members & friends in the 2001 tragedy. May God bless all of you and give you peace, today and every day.

Mommy Favorites: 3-6 Months

Lucy is rounding the corner on 8 months now! It's so bittersweet. I've found a lot of different favorites in the last 3 or 4 months and I thought I'd share them with my fellow mamas. Here they are:

Britax B Agile Stroller // This is the new 2015 version--I have the 2014, so I guess there could be minor differences, but as for my 2014 one, I absolutely love it! It's a breeze to pack up and put away, it fits easily into my car or SUV and it's one of the smoothest and easiest to steer that I've ever tried! Super lightweight, even with the carseat on top, so this one wins over and over in my book.

Munchkin White Hot Safety Baby Spoons // I don't always heat up Lucy's baby food--in fact, I try not to so that she doesn't become spoiled. If we're on the go I can't always heat it up, and I would hate for her to become picky! But when I do reheat, these spoons are wonderful because they turn white when the food is too hot. Definitely good to have on hand.

Gerber Puffs // Lucy is starting to eat more and more table foods (she especially loves vanilla wafers and french fries. We try to limit those..), so I like to have little snacks on hand for her to practice her chewing skills. While we don't have a working dishwasher, I'll often stick her in the high chair with a tray full of Cheerio's or Puffs while I hand wash at the sink. I prefer Puffs over cereal because I don't have to worry so much about her choking while I'm too busy to notice; the Puffs dissolve quickly and are a good, small size. They also come in lots of different flavors which are fun for her to try.

Chicco Polly High Chair // Again, I have an older version of this (the chevron one, passed down from my youngest sister), but I think they're pretty similar. It's not too much different than your average high chair but it has one feature I really love: a plastic tray on top of the tray. Basically a lid for the tray that can easily be removed for quick clean-up and popped right back on in time for dinner. It makes cleaning up messes a breeze and can even fit in the dishwasher if you have a real disaster!

Crinkle Tag Toy // We have a couple of these crinkle toys. They're basically just little fabric loveys with a layer of plastic in the center that creates the sound of a plastic grocery bag when scrunched. Lucy loves them and they are great church toys since the crinkle isn't so loud that it disturbs the entire congregation. I especially like the kind with the tags on the sides for hanging on activity mats and car seats.

Honest Company Baby 2-in-1 Shampoo & Body Wash // I love everything from the Honest Company, and even though this is a little pricey for baby shampoo, it's done wonders for Lucy's skin. We started with Johnson's but were struggling to get rid of her newborn cradle cap even after several months. Then a pediatrician told us that Johnson's is terrible for their skin and super drying! We tried out the Honest kind and her cradle cap was gone in one wash! It was amazing! We've been using it ever since and plan to continue. It lathers really well, so you really get your money's worth and it smells like an orange creamsicle! Delicious!

Munchkin Teether Toys // We love our teether toys! Lucy still hasn't really started teething (she'll be 8 months on September 12th...I'm hoping I don't have too much longer to wait), but she really likes to chew and bite. She usually prefers a finger or a knuckle but also love these hand and foot shaped teethers. They're easy for her to grip and firm enough for her to really bite down. When she starts teething for real I can pop them in the fridge before playtime to help comfort her gums.

What were your favorite products for 3-6 month olds? Any products I should look into for the next three months? Let me know in the comments!

Fave Five Friday

TGIF ya'll! We're heading to Lexington, KY tonight (well, technically reeeally early Saturday morning. Preston works 3:30-12:30am, so by the time he gets home and we pack up and actually get on the road, it'll be 1:30am!). I'm not looking forward to driving over night but it will definitely be worth it to spend extra time with family! This week has been busy gearing up for the trip. Here's a little run down:

5.) These two make my heart melt. We spent most of our weekend just snuggling and hanging out, and I am totally okay with that.

4.) Our MOPS Steering Team had a little pool party to ring in the new semester, and our shirts came in the same day! I love them and can't wait to show it off at my first meeting!

3.) Lucy and I hit up JCPenney's this week to look for some new clothes for fall. Lucy is definitely my girl...she loves shopping! We didn't find much, but I did have a $10 reward so I was able to grab Lucy an outfit for free! Can't beat that!

2.) Did you see Monday's post on my Favorite Fall Polishes? There's some for every price range and lots that are in my wishlist now! I can't wait to get my hands on a metallic champagne shade this season.  I also linked a new Currently post, sharing my love for fall, what I'm reading, and more as we jump into September! You can catch up on that here.

1.) Do you have a favorite devotional app? I really love She Reads Truth. It's free and has many free devotionals ranging from several weeks to just a few days at a time, which is great for this busy mama. I love that it's all tailored for women and there are discussion threads after each devotion. They also have a shop where you can buy adorable mugs and prints, plus free phone wallpapers like this one above! We are truly Saved By HIS Grace, and I love having that daily reminder on my home screen.

Happy Friday, loves! I can't wait to get to Lexington. It's my home away from home! I've got several posts lined up for you while I'm gone and I'm sure there will be a hearty recap of my time there when I get back ;)
