The Best Toys For Newborns

From the moment your baby is born, they are learning and studying the world around them. At first, toys are totally unnecessary; baby is just focusing on learning to sleep and eat! After those first few weeks, when your baby can see a little better it's fun to start breaking out all the brightly colored toys!

It can be a little overwhelming looking for toys for your baby, especially when they can't tell you their interests. So I'm sharing a few of our favorite toys that we found best for the newborn/infant stage.

Parker's 4 Month Update featuring Milestone Baby Cards

I seriously can't believe our little guy is already 4 months old! He is growing up so quickly and his personality is really starting to shine. Parker loves to smile and laugh at Lucy and Daddy! He also has weirdly strong legs which he enjoys standing on with little support and loves to jump in Daddy's lap. I love watching him with Lucy and I'm a total puddle when I see her taking care of her baby dolls and stuffed animals, copying the things I do with Parker. Her current favorite is grabbing a blankie to swaddle and put baby in the swing. It is the most precious thing I have ever seen.

I want to stop these moments and live in them forever. I feel like the time flies by so much quicker with 2 kids. I find myself forgetting to fill out the baby book, scheduling doctor's appointments way late, and just can't find the energy to stage a perfectly posed and Pinterest-worthy monthly photo.

Now I can celebrate and capture moments easily, with Milestone Original Baby Cards from Milestone Baby. Each photo card depicts a distinct milestone in baby's growth, from one week to one year and lots of fun steps in between, including "first tooth" and a blank card perfect for customization.

Milestone Original Baby Cards make remembering these moments of Parker's first year so much sweeter. I may even frame one in his nursery!

You can try out Milestone Cards for yourself with a FREE PRINTABLE! They have a "First Day of School" card that's perfect for back to school!

How do you capture these sweet baby moments?

Favorite Fall Beauty Trends 2016

My Facebook feed is filling up with posts about fall and the coming holidays and it has me dreaming of pumpkin spice scents and comfy cozy sweaters.

Since summer is drawing to a close, I'm looking forward to cooler weather trends, my favorite of which is beauty. Fall is one of my favorite seasons for makeup because I get to play with bold colors along with my usual neutrals and the color schemes are just gorgeous.

Here are some of my favorite fall beauty trends popping up this year:

Anyone else crushing on the rose gold hair trend? I'm not sure if I could pull it off or keep up with the touch ups, but man is it gorgeous!

A bold burgundy lip will always be my favorite for fall. I really love the lush lashes and neutral face/eye look paired with such a strong lip color.

Nude nails are a year round fave, but the addition of a little sparkle makes this winter-ready.

This rosy shimmery eyeshadow look is soo pretty for fall! I'm thinking burgundy and plums all around!

Another pretty, neutral eye look with just a touch of plum. These "Kylie Jenner"-esque lips are swoon-worthy for fall, too! I love a good matte liquid lip!

Fave Five Friday | Instagram Highlights

Happy Friday!

Another busy week of doing nothing, and I'm totally okay with it.

Here are some highlights from my Instagram this week:

5.) This past weekend was amazing! Preston surprised me with last minute tickets to see Paul McCartney in concert at Busch Stadium! We saw him back in 2012 thinking it was a once in a lifetime opportunity and were lucky enough to see him once again. I have always been a huge Beatles fan, so I loved hearing his stories from their glory days during this 50th anniversary show.

4.) I received this Influenster VoxBox on Monday and got the chance to test the products out right away for a girl's night out to see Bad Moms (HILARIOUS btw)! I am really loving all three shades and should have a blog post up in the coming weeks with a solid review!

3.) Tuesday was my 22nd birthday! We celebrated super low-key after such a fun weekend at the concert, but it was still a great birthday and I'm so blessed to spend another year with my little family and so many amazing friends.

2.) We've been spending a lot of time around the house this week with a car that's being worked on. Thankfully, Preston was able to find and fix one of the issues and we should have it all fixed up soon!

1.) Did you catch this week's outfit post featuring a gorgeous wood watch from JORD? Click the link to view all the outfit details and enter to win a giveaway towards a pretty watch of your own!

Now I'm off to spend the weekend priming every wall in the house so we can FINALLY paint! I can't express how excited I am, y'all. All the praise hands!

Gray and Burgundy OOTD with JORD Watches + a GIVEAWAY!

*JORD sent me this watch in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.*

Have you ever seen such a pretty watch?!

I never thought I'd be into a wooden timepiece, but I actually really love this. It's so lightweight, yet sturdy enough that it doesn't feel fragile. It's splash-proof, too, which is important as a mom who is constantly getting something spilled on her!

This is the Frankie Series watch in Purpleheart and Plum. It features a beautiful burgundy/rose gold combo that is just dreamy for fall and winter. I chose to pair it with neutrals today, because I just love the way the burgundy adds a pop of color! I like to go for statement pieces that add a punch to an otherwise boring outfit, and JORD watches do just that. These handcrafted beauties are a total eye-catcher and who doesn't love a good arm party?

I can't wait to wear my new wood watch all through fall and winter. I can already picture it with a plaid blanket scarf, emerald sweater, or black and white stripes! So pretty!

Want a wood watch of your own for fall? I'm teaming up with JORD to give YOU a chance to win a gift card towards your very own timeless timepiece! One winner will be chosen at random to win a $75 e-voucher to JORD watches and every other entry is a winner, too!

Head HERE to enter the giveaway!

Do you have any timeless statement pieces? Statement pieces are my forever favorite!

It's Friday! Time for another round of fave fives!

5.) Things were a little quiet on the blog this week. I chose to set aside blogging to spend time with my husband on his one week off from summer classes before fall semester starts back up. We also celebrated our 3rd anniversary yesterday!

4.) Preston had to work on our anniversary, but he definitely made up for it. First he sent flowers to the house with the lyrics to "All You Need is Love" by the Beatles written on the card. I had no idea it was a hint at what was to come...he then surprised me with tickets (and secured a babysitter) to see Paul McCartney at Busch Stadium tomorrow night! I can't believe this guy. We saw Paul in concert in 2012 thinking it had to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and then this Beatles anniversary came around and he is back! I can't believe I will be there to witness it once again!

3.) Parker had a rough couple of days in the middle of the week that meant a loss of sleep for everyone. I think it was his tummy and a bit of a growth spurt rolled into one. He is a happy fella now, though!

2.) Did you see this week's only blog post? It was my most famous recipe-- Chocolate Chip Cookies! I shared some tips, tricks, and secrets to making them absolutely perfect and chewy!

1.) I'm so blessed to have a handy hubby! He has been working on our car every night this week and it is finally back up and running (though still not fully fixed). I know he saved us a ton of money not having to take it into a shop.

This weekend is going to be a blast! I hope yours is amazing too!

Picture Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies

Happy Tuesday!

Today I'm sharing my most requested recipe: Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Seriously, I've never made these cookies and not been asked for the recipe! The best part? They're so easy!

Here's what you'll need:

Butter, Vanilla, Baking soda, flour, sugar, brown sugar, egg, instant vanilla pudding mix, and chocolate chips (optional: any other mix-ins)

Someone was excited to help bake!

Beat sugars and butter together, then add the egg and vanilla.

Now toss in the baking soda and vanilla pudding mix.

Time for flour!

And now the chips! I had hungry hands helping me ;)

Once mixed, scoop into small balls and line up on a greased cookie sheet. I usually do about 2 tbsp per scoop for a small/medium cookie.

NOW for the big secret!!!!

The secret to getting them picture perfect is to place a few chocolate chips on top before they bake. They'll stay at the surface and look just like your classic chocolate chip cookie should look!

I know what you're thinking. "Those could use a couple more minutes." But trust me and take them out! This is the key to a super chewy cookie!

I love baking these yummy treats for almost any occasion. I often add M&M's, toffee, and flavored chocolate chips to mix things up. The vanilla pudding mix is my secret ingredient.
