DIY Get Well Soon "Gift-in-a-Mug"

I have received information and materials from Johnson & Johnson Consumer, Inc., McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division. The opinions stated are my own. This is a sponsored post. This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #WinOverWinter #CollectiveBias

The holidays are here and with the winter season comes cold weather germs. Busy moms know, it's not possible to take a sick day from parenthood. That's why I'm sharing a quick and easy Get Well Soon Gift-in-a-Mug that will win over winter for any sniffling mama.

What You'll Need:

  • A large mug
  • Travel tissues
  • Hot cocoa
  • Motrin®
  • Lip balm
  • Hand sanitizer

This sweet gift is super easy to put together. Simply stuff a little tissue paper into the bottom of your mug to keep your items visible and sticking out of the top of the mug a little.

Now arrange your items however you like! I like to keep the taller products in the back and the necessities, like Motrin®, in the front.

Being a mom comes with a lot of minor aches and pains even when you're not sick. I made sure to include Motrin® in my gift basket because of its fast acting relief for headaches and cold symptoms. It also reduces fever and sore throat pains! Tissues, lip balm, and hand sanitizer are all staples for recovering from any winter illness, but hot cocoa in a pretty new mug will lift mom's spirits, too.

Want to make a Get Well Gift of your own? It's so simple! Just grab all the items above at your local Target while you're shopping for your usual groceries and head to the Pain & Allergy Relief aisle to pick up a bottle of Motrin®! I love making one-stop-shops, don't you?

Are you in the spirit of giving yet? How do you beat the cold weather blues with a busy lifestyle?

What I Scored on Black Friday

I love shopping and I definitely love a good deal. This year was the first year I'd ever hit up the Black Friday sales and I thought for sure we'd be going around 6 or 7am on Friday.

My crazy family decided to load up and hit the stores at 10pm! Can you believe some of these shops that open anywhere from 3-6pm on Thanksgiving Day? I wasn't planning to shop at all on Thanksgiving but we had an early dinner and all agreed to go. We found some awesome deals, though, so I'm glad we went when we did.

We only hit up 2 stores but I found most of the things I had on my list so that's a bonus. Here's a little round up of everything we snagged!

Shark Navigator Liftaway Professional Vacuum, $98 (reg. $199) // This was our number one item and we weren't really sure what brand we wanted, but we knew we needed a vacuum that would last and had good suction. My mom, grandma and sister-in-law all have similar Shark vacuums that they love so when we saw this one for less than $100 we thought we'd give it a try. I haven't vacuumed the whole house with it yet, but I did test out a small patch of carpet the day we got home and holy cow! I'm disgusted by how little our old vacuum was getting! We vacuumed right before we left, too. So glad we decided to invest in a new one!!!

Westinghouse 50" LED Smart 4K Ultra HD TV, $249.99 (reg. $429.99) // We really wanted one of the 55" TV's that were only $270 at Walmart, but my husband got a Best Buy email for early access to some of their Black Friday deals and we ended up snagging this one instead of fighting crowds at 6pm. Still a great TV and we're excited to get it all set up!

Bella Dual Brew Single Cup Coffee Maker, $19.99 (after mail-in rebate, reg. $49.99) // I've been in the market for a coffee maker for awhile now and couldn't justify the $100+ price tags on many of the K-Cup compatible machines out there. I love the idea of having Starbucks at home, so I was thrilled to see this Bella brand maker at such a great price! Even better, it's single serve which is perfect for us as my hubby prefers to use his french press in the mornings.

Contigo Travel Coffee Mugs, $9 (reg. $19) // Preston loves these Contigo brand travel thermoses for his morning coffee at the office. He says they keep his drink hot for several hours and they're a great size that fits in his car's cup holder which is a big deal. We saw a 4-pack for less than $10 (individually, they're $10 per cup!) so of course we threw them in the cart.

Waffle Weave Crewneck Sweater, $9.99 (reg. $40) // I wasn't looking for clothes on Black Friday, I promise! But when Kohl's offers you $15 Kohl's Cash for every $50 spent and has solid deals on sweaters, you snag them up! I came home with this cozy taupe color that I think will look super cute with white denim this winter. I would have picked up the beautiful burgundy shade, too, but they were out of smalls! :( #storyofmylife

Textured Long Cardigan, $19.99 (reg. $54) // The gorgeous camel color I purchased doesn't seem to be available online, but this under $20 cardi was a steal and totally soft! I love the ribbed texture and longline cut, plus it's not too heavy so I never feel overheated.

Chevron Bath Rug, $9.99 (reg. 49.99) // Our master bathroom has a shower only and the curtain was letting out a ton of water every time we showered. Unfortunately, it ruined our old bath mat so I needed to pick up a new one. This light blue chevron looks adorable with my grey chevron curtain and is making me antsy to get the walls painted in a similar mint hue.

Monogram Hand Towel, $2.99 (reg. $9.99 ) // Totally not a necessity, but a price I couldn't pass up and it looks precious in our hall bath. That room has a mint + grey color scheme as well, so this towel looks fresh and cohesive with the rest of the theme.

Holiday Memories Sugar Cookie Candles, $3.99 (reg. $11.99) // This is so silly, but my brother and now sister-in-law got me a sugar cookie candle from Kohl's last year that was the most amazing scented candle I've ever burned. I love me some BBW 3 Wicks, but this single wick flame filled my house in seconds and the scent was so delicious I think I burned the whole candle in just a week or two! They're often only $5.99 on sale, but when I saw them again this year in the Black Friday ad for $3.99 I knew I needed to stock up. I ended up coming home with 3 more 17.5oz candles. I probably should have bought more. #regret

Movies: Deadpool, $3.96 (reg. $29.98); Wizard of Oz, $1.96 (reg. $10.47), Lord of the Rings Trilogy BluRay Set, $9.96 (reg. $24.98) // I always scour the Walmart movie deals around Black Friday but this year I was pretty disappointed. Last year we went on like, Saturday and found tons of great flicks but this year we went on Black Friday and found almost nothing! Maybe they put out more stock after the rush? Anyway, we came home with a few favorites which was at least worth our time and me having to step over a lady who had parked herself cross legged on the floor in the middle of the aisle to dig through the DVDs! Crazy.

So I think that's everything we snagged! Did you hit up any Black Friday sales or just wait for the Cyber Monday deals? What did you score?

Burgundy + Rose Gold Moto Jacket

*This post contains affiliate links.*

Leopard and burgundy is one of my favorite fall color combos (because yes, leopard is a color). This gorgeous suede moto jacket features rose gold details and is definitely a new staple in my fall wardrobe. I'm absolutely in love with it and even better, I snagged it for less than $50!

This leopard clutch is quickly becoming a favorite, too. It's been on high rotation since it came in the mail a few weeks ago and I have a hard time switching it out to other bags! Anyone else totally wear out new pieces and become obsessed?!

Fave Five Friday | 5 Things I'm Thankful For

Happy Friday!

Since yesterday was Thanksgiving, I'm sharing 5 things I'm thankful for this year (even though the list is waaay longer than 5 things):

5.) I am so thankful for this blogging community and all the friends I have made inside and out of it! I was a total outcast in school and never had any friends, so I am grateful to God that not only do I have many close good friends, they are also Godly, Christian women who empower one another and lift others up. I am so happy to be surrounded by such loving ladies!

4.) I'm also thankful for our ability to visit our family over the holiday. I miss my parents and siblings all the time but this year is extra special as we will be visiting my mom & dad, younger siblings, older brother + his new wife, my grandma, Preston's grandma + grandpa, plus a handful of aunts and uncles that live all around the country. Many of them haven't even met Parker yet! It's exciting to be able to spend the holidays together.

3.) Of course I am thankful for these babies of mine. My heart is always overflowing with love and joy.

Lucy is the silliest, happiest girl who knows exactly what she wants, but is also sweet and caring and loving to others. I love watching her learn more every day, especially when I notice her copying something that she sees me do all the time.

Parker is a happy little chunk these days, too! Almost always smiling, super ticklish and just loves to be around others. He loves to jump and kick and if he's feeling extra lovey, he will grab your face with both hands and pull you towards his face for a big slobbery kiss!

2.) I am always thankful for my husband, too. He works tirelessly for his family and will do anything to provide for us. But more than that, he is always reminding me how much he loves me. I'm so glad I have a husband who thinks I'm truly beautiful and loves me exactly as I am. Preston is the most amazing father to our two kids as well. My heart melts when I see him playing with them or reading them a story. And seeing their faces light up or hearing them squeal when they hear him come in the door from work just proves what a great daddy he is.

1.) Speaking of great fathers, I am SO thankful for my Heavenly Father! He has provided me with so many blessings that I don't deserve. His mercies are new every morning, and though I fail Him daily, He proves each and every day that He is bigger than any mountain I may climb. We have had several answered prayers in the last couple of weeks and I know He is faithful to His children.

I could go on forever with this list of things I'm grateful for. It's amazing when you stop and think of all the blessings in your life how many you might have overlooked.

What are you thankful for today?

Best Black Friday Deals 2016

Tomorrow is Turkey Day! We're not planning on going shopping until later in the morning on Black Friday, but skipping the rush doesn't have to mean missing out on good deals! Here are my top items from my top 3 Black Friday stops that I'm hoping to snag during our after rush-hour shopping spree.

Not only is Kohl's offering $15 Kohl's Cash for every $50 spent (they only do this once a year!), they also have a ton of great deals on kitchen and home items as well as electronics and toys. We aren't in the market for any of the crazy must-have toys like Hatchimals this year (thank God), so I'm planning to browse through Kohl's at a leisurely pace, finding a few goodies here and there if I'm lucky. Items I might actually search out include:

Bella Dual Brew Single Cup Coffee Maker, $19.99 // Normally anywhere from $30-50, this guy will be $20 (after mail-in rebate), making him a respectable 60% off

Discovery Kids Canvas Play Teepee, $34.99 // These canvas play tents make adorable reading nooks and are tons of fun for the kiddos! At 65% off it's definitely a steal, but it you're crafty you could even try making one yourself!

Women's Crystal Plaid Watch, $9.99 // Not a big ticket item, but I love a good deal on trendy pieces that may not make it into next year's wardrobe. $10 for a cute watch sounds great to me! This one is  50% off and comes in black + white, too.

Lauren Conrad Faux Leather Tassel Keychain, $6.99 // Also appearing on one of my holiday gift guides (coming soon!), this tassel keychain would look adorable on the side of any bag or dangling from your car keys. At right around $10 off (just shy of 60% off), it's not an outrageous deal by any means, but if there are a few left I think they'd make super cute gift exchange presents!

Holiday Memories Jar Candle,  $3.99 // Skip Bath & Body Works and head to Kohl's to pick up a dozen of these stupid cheap candles! They smell amazing, last forever, and fill the whole house with yummy fragrance! My favorite scent is Sugar Cookie and I'm definitely stocking up while they're roughly 70% off.

Target is usually one of my favorite one-stop-shops so I was pretty disappointed to see that they were once again opening in the evening on Thanksgiving Day. I was hoping to see some better deals, but upon browsing the ads ahead of time found that most of the items I was interested in at Target were significantly cheaper at Walmart! Sorry, Bullseye, you're just not meeting my standards this year. A few items I might still be on the watch for:

Cooking for Jeffery by Ina Garten, $12.87 // Anyone else a Food Network fanatic? I love Barefoot Contessa and would love to snag her newest cookbook while books are 50% off!

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh Perfume, $30.99 // Since designer perfumes are 30% off, I'm on the hunt for a new spritz! My mom has this one and it's one of my favorites that I just don't own yet.

Lainee d'Orsay Pumps, $20.99 // All shoes (and clothing) are 30% off so I'm hoping to score a few more pairs of my all time favorite pumps!

Walmart is known for having great Black Friday deals and this year doesn't disappoint. I have several wishlist items I'd love to snag on sale here but nothing too vital, so they still can't pull me away from the dinner table at 6pm yet! ;) Here's what I'm after:

Downton Abbey Seasons, $6.96 // I normally watch Downton on Amazon Prime but I would love to own the seasons on DVD in case they ever disappear from streaming. At right around 75% off, these are a steal. Walmart always amazing deals on movies and TV series on Black Friday.

Pioneer Woman 27pc Cooking Set, $89 // I would love to get new pots and pans! We've had the same cheap set + hand-me-downs since we were married and they're starting to fall apart. I've heard great reviews on the Pioneer Woman sets and the cute blue color plus 55% off pricepoint sound like a winner to me!

Hoover T Series WindTunnel Rewind Vacuum, $44 // We are in desperate need of a new vacuum (ours is knocking on death's door) and this one has good reviews and is super cheap at 55% off! I'd love to splurge and get a pricey but long lasting vacuum, but with 2 kids and a dog I just don't see the point in possibly ruining a several hundred dollar vacuum with cheerios and fur.

A few things to SKIP no matter where you're shopping:

Linens, Bedding, and Bath // These are always on a great sale at the beginning of the new year. Save your Christmas money and shop in January at the same or better pricing without the crowds.

Clothing // This goes at least for women's and baby...don't waste valuable Black Friday shopping time trying on or even browsing the racks for clothing! The deals are almost always the same as any other random weekend sale and some deals like Carter's at Kohl's are actually cheaper at their namesake store (Carter's/Oshkosh) on Black Friday.

We prefer to enjoy Thanksgiving as a family in our home and don't like to support stores during Thanksgiving Day hours. Do you fight the early Black Friday crowds or hang back and see what's left after hours?

How to Rock a Red Lip | How I Whiten My Teeth at Home + a Giveaway!

Hey y'all! Today I'm going to share with you all a little glimpse into my teeth whitening routine and why I think it is so important when rocking a red lip!

First off, my favorite red lippies:

NARS Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella, Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Red Velvet, Revlon Matte Lipstick in 900 Really Red (apparently I'm a matte lipstick junkie. Want to sport these colors with a little shine? Try a tinted gloss like Smith & Cult Lip Lacquer in The Warning.)

There are two key factors in rocking a red lip: Smooth Lips & White Teeth

My exfoliation routine is pretty low key. I use the e.l.f Lip Exfoliator a few times a week. A homemade sugar scrub also works well. Always apply a balm afterwards! I like my Perfectly Posh Caffeinated Lip Balm for it's tightening effect and natural ingredients. If the weather is particularly dry and my lips are cracked or bleeding I forgo exfoliation until things heal up. Carmex seems to work fastest on healing, but lanolin (yes, like nipple cream) is a great, more natural alternative.

Now, I don't have the time or money to have expensive, in-office whitening done at the dentist but my love for coffee and a stunning crimson pout beg for pearly whites. Unfortunately for me, my teeth don't have the strongest genetics. I was blessed with weak teeth, meaning I suffer from moderate to severe sensitivity to cold and sweets along with weak enamel that chips and wears easily. I have always been afraid to try teeth whitening as I know how painful it can be for someone with sensitive teeth like me, but when Smile Brilliant reached out and asked me to try their in-home whitening system I thought, "Can't hurt to try!"

So here's how to process works: When you order your whitening system, you'll receive a box like this in the mail. It contains two types of dental putty that you'll combine and use to create your custom fitted impressions. Head here to learn more about tooth sensitivity and if whitening is right for you.

The putty hardens pretty fast, so be sure to work in a timely fashion. I used my phone to set a timer and had both trays finished and ready to go within 10 or 15 minutes. Much better than a 2-3 hour wait in a dentists office!

You'll mail your finished impressions back to the Smile Brilliant lab and in about 5 days your custom-made whitening trays will be on your doorstep! Seriously, how easy is that?! Now you can whiten to your heart's content! I prefer to whiten at night, usually before bed. I use the bleach first, then apply a layer of desensitizing gel to save my sensitive teeth from pain. I was honestly shocked to find that I experienced no pain whatsoever!

It's been about 8 weeks since I started the process and I am so happy with my results. I'm so glad that I was able to see whiter and brighter teeth without ever wasting time in a dreadful waiting room!

Results will definitely vary, but I love the flexibility that Smile Brilliant offers in terms of whitening when and however long you want to! It has made what used to be something that terrified me into something that has completely boosted my self-esteem and given me the confidence to wear the bold lipsticks I love! Click here for a more in depth video on how Smile Brilliant works, how to use it, and the kind of results you might see with it!

Want to try Smile Brilliant for yourself? Head HERE to enter your email for a chance to win a FULL Whitening System (via a $139.95 credit)! Winner will be announced in 2 weeks. Don't want to wait that long? Use code "likehoney" to receive 5% off your purchase on

Professional Teeth Whitening So what do you think? Would you give in-home teeth whitening a try?
