March 2017 - Like Honey

Best in Beauty | March 2017

TGIT ladies! March is almost over, so I'm here today with some of my favorite beauty products of the last few weeks! Everything is UNDER $25, even the more high end products, so if you're budget conscious like me, you'll still love all of these gorgeous spring finds.

Let's get started!

Makeup Revolution Flawless 3 Resurrection palette, $15 @ Ulta || Don't let that $15 price tag fool you, this palette is easily my favorite find this year! There are 32 shadows in this gorgeous metallic rose gold set and they're all super pigmented and buttery! A few of the lighter shades do tend to look a little chalky on me and there are a couple of shimmery hues that are hard to build up, but overall this palette is worth EVERY penny. And guess what?! If you use my Ulta Rewards referral code, you can save $10 which means this palette is only FIVE DOLLARS. Score!

TheBalm Instain Long-Wearing Staining Powder Blush in Swiss Dot, $22 @ Kohl's || I have to admit, I really only caved and bought this product because of the pretty packaging. However, I really do love it! It lasts the entire day, even when my face isn't primed or set and leaves a gorgeous coral flush to my cheeks. A little goes a loooong way, so this blush is definitely worth the money.

TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter & Shimmer Compact, $24 @ Kohl's || Another cult favorite I finally got my hands on, and I'm so glad I did. One light swipe is the perfect amount of luminosity to brighten up my makeup, but the formula is easily buildable for more dramatic looks. It's not chunky glittery like some highlighters can be and it's not so creamy that it's hard to blend out. I feel like it always looks totally natural and pretty!

L'Oreal La Palette Lip Nude, $17 @ drugstores || You may have seen this little guy in my recent L'Oreal Haul. It's the prettiest nude lip palette and at first, I really didn't love it. It seemed like a pain to have to highlight and contour your lips, and, well, yeah. It is. But I'm really liking mixing the different shades and finishes to create totally new lip looks. I also like that this palette is fairly small, which justifies carrying it around with me for touch ups.

L'Oreal Voluminous Feline Mascara, $8.99 @ Ulta || If you're in the market for a new lengthening mascara, this one needs to be on your list. It combs every lash without a single clump and gives a little volume, too. I find it to be way more lengthening than "voluminous" as its name suggests, but still a winner for me! See more of it in my L'Oreal Haul.

L'Oreal Voluminous Lash Primer, $8.99 @ Ulta || Another favie from my recent L'Oreal Haul, this primer is giving my lashes new life! I have hooded eyelids and stick straight lashes but have been finding that this primer really allows my mascara to hold its curl and requires less actual coats of mascara. It seems to work best with it's sister mascara the L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara.

L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Collection Exclusive in Jennifer's Pink and Julianne's Pink, $5.99 @ drugstores || Another lippie love, this hot berry pink shade has been on massive repeat since it showed up at my door. I love the color for spring and it really makes me want to buy allll the neon pink lipsticks. Someone please stop me. No, don't.

Wet n Wild Au Naturel palette in Nude Awakening, $6.99 @ drugstores || Another palette favorite, and under $10! I really wasn't sure what to expect from this cheapie collection but I am totally wowed! The colors are vibrant, have great staying power, and they don't kick up a lot of dust! I'm really amazed at the quality from a more low end brand and can't wait to see what else Wet n Wild has to offer.

L'Oreal Infallible Pro Glow Foundation, $12.99 @ Drugstores || This foundation is RUNNY, y'all, but don't be intimidated! A little goes a long way and it's super blendable. I love using it on dry days and even on my normal/oily days have found it to be very long lasting and not overpowering in the "glow" dept. It's really more of a dewy sheen and definitely a medium coverage that's buildable. Highly recommend!

Yes To Miracle Oil Calm & Soothe Primrose Oil and Brighten & Condition Argan Oil Mud Masks, $3.29 @ Ulta || I love treating myself to a good face mask and these two were both great options. I felt like the primrose oil one left my skin feeling extra soft and moisturized while the argan oil one gave my dull spots new life. The best part is you can totally get a few uses out of each packet if you store it in a sealed plastic baggie!

Springtime in Lilly

If you've been here before, you'll know that I'm a total bargain shopper with a passion for scoring great deals. I'm also in love with Lilly Pulitzer, which does not bode well for my budget-conscious wardrobe.

Would you believe that I found this Lilly for Target top for less than $10, brand NEW with tags? Thanks to ThredUP, I scored it for $7 + shipping along with the prettiest pink and orange one-shoulder dress for summer. I stalked the Lilly for Target line when it first launched, but due to a tight budget I wasn't able to snag anything right away and have been adding pieces to my collection via resale ever since. I never thought I'd score any of the pieces I loved for this cheap, but ThredUP has an amazing selection of designer items for a total score! I loved browsing all the styles and their sizing and detailed descriptions made it easy for me to shop secondhand first without worrying about things not fitting...but if something doesn't fit, they offer free return shipping on exchanges! You can sign up for free + get $10 to spend by clicking HERE. I promise you'll love it!

I thought the orange + pink combo would be perfect for spring, and the flowy sleeves and lightweight material will transition great into summer with white cutoffs and flip flops. Of course I had to mix in my new Sugarfix by Baublebar hot pink earrings, too!

Top 5 Lip Colors for Spring

*This post contains affiliate links.*

Spring in the Midwest is probably the absolute worst. I haven't been able to completely pack up my sweaters, but I have been dying to break out all of my spring and summer hues. Lipstick is one of my favorite ways to add a pop of color to any outfit and really just brighten up your whole look!

Today I'm sharing my Top 5 Lip Colors for Spring and they're all available at your local drugstore for less than $10!

You probably saw that hot pink hue in my recent post for L'Oreal, and I've been playing around with the Fairest Nude shade for a while now, too. I'm usually a "my-lips-but-better" kind of lipstick girl, so of course I had to add in a mauve-y shade like Lust for Blush. I'm also loving the e.l.f. cosmetics moisturizing line of lipsticks, especially their removable balms at the bottom!

This orange-y nude shade is going to be such a fun take on a classic neutral. Do you have any favorite shades or go-to hues for the spring and summer months?

How to Wear a Lularoe Carly Dress: 2 Ways! + GIVEAWAY!

*This post has been sponsored by Lularoe Joni Bond but all opinions are my own as always! This post also contains affiliate links: thank you for supporting Like Honey!*

Who else is obsessed with the Lularoe trend?! I am slowly racking up a collection and I'm totally okay with it! This olive green Carly dress is perfect for spring and fall alike, but I was so intimidated by the flowiness of it. I'm so glad my bestie Joni sent one my way for me to try out because I am totally in love!

Since I can't be the only one who started out uncertain, I thought I'd share two ways to rock the Lularoe Carly dress that are perfect for any season and totally versatile! This first look is great for the warmer weather we've been having and I love the knot at the bottom for a little twist on an otherwise straight dress. I have worn it without the knot, too, and it still looks very cute and flattering!

This second look includes the cutest pair of Lularoe Leggings--the Must-Have LLR Item, for sure, and a great option for those who haven't yet jumped on the Lula bandwagon! They are truly buttery soft and worth every penny to have at least one pair in your collection. My friend Joni has a huge selection of One Size (sizes 2-10) and Tall & Curvy (sizes 12-22) leggings in tons of cute and colorful prints! I didn't believe that leggings that could fit a size 2 could possibly fit my size 6 frame, but they are so stretchy they fit comfortably! The length is just slightly too long for me (I'm 5'3) but they scrunch up without looking frumpy and can always be rolled or cuffed. I love that they have stayed soft after so many washes and look great with so many items!

I knotted the Carly up a little higher this time to show off more of the leggings' print. Paired with ankle booties, a cardi, and hat, this is going to be one of my favorite looks this fall!

Now it's time for a GIVEAWAY! I've teamed up with Lularoe Joni Bond to bring one lucky winner a FREE pair of buttery soft leggings!!! Just head to Instagram to enter to WIN! Winner will be announced on Friday, March 4!

Flutter Sleeve Floral Romper for Spring

Have you ever seen such an adorable romper?! I just love this floral for spring, and the blush + black combo is a super cute change to my usual wardrobe hues. Of course I had to coordinate a blush eyeshadow look. And did I mention this romper has pockets?! As if the ruffle hem, 3/4 flutter sleeve, and surplice neckline weren't enough to win you over!

I'm not normally a romper girl, but I'm trying to expand my wardrobe past skinny jeans and dresses. I'm also a little self-conscious about rocking something similar to shorts. I've never understood why I'm so insecure with my legs in shorts but not dresses! So weird! If any of you have tips for slimming down thighs, fast, I'd love to hear them! Haha.

I feel like the ruffles at the hem of this romper helped me through the fear of a form fitting short. I love that it's just enough flare to be trendy but not so much that my hips look extra wide or curvy. I'm also digging this flutter bell sleeve trend lately! Such a cute feminine look!

I got this romper at TJ Maxx (of course), but I've linked a few similar styles below + some new beauty products I'm loving (particularly for my new hair extensions)! I promise you'll love them almost as much as you love the price ;)

How I Overcame My Postpartum Hair Loss

*This post has been sponsored by Hidden Crown Hair. All opinions are always my own.*

Happy Tuesday, y'all! I'm finally getting around to sharing a little about my hair extensions with all of you and I am so excited! You all know that I have two precious little ones, 15 months apart. They are the light of my life, but having my babies so close together really did a number on my strands and I have been suffering with extremely thin, fine hair ever since Parker was born! When the postpartum hair loss first started with him it was bad. Like, bald spots, bad. My hair line was so sparse and patchy and the rest of my scalp was shedding like crazy! I tried all kinds of products, from vitamins to special shampoo all to no avail.

A post shared by Mariah (@likehoneyblog) on

I ended up chopping most of my hair off in an effort to make things appear more voluptuous. It definitely helped! But I missed my long hair and being able to pull it back when I needed. Fast forward to over 6 months later, my hair is maybe a couple inches longer? It could be impatience, but things seem to be growing much slower since giving birth and my hair was still growing in so fine and thin!

I knew extensions would be my saving grace, but all of those clips and pieces looked so intimidating, not to mention damaging to my already fragile locks! That's why when I saw the halo design from Hidden Crown Hair, I knew it was meant for me. Not only did they look easy to put on, but they looked so much more real than some of the other extension brands I had seen!

That's because Hidden Crown uses 100% human REMY hair and offers about 40% more hair per gram than their competitors, making them one of the most affordable options out there! I love that they are dedicated to giving you the highest quality product while still giving you the most bang for your buck. These are seriously the prettiest hair extensions that look completely natural and curl effortlessly. They brush out easily and are entirely invisible thanks to the clear wire that holds them in place, plus they only take a minute to put in and a second to take out! Game changer for busy mamas like me!

It's been so fun being able to go back and forth between long and short hair now! But more than that, I feel so much more confident with my hair. The Hidden Crown extensions give me the volume I'm missing from my postpartum hair loss and the length I'm no longer able to achieve due to my thin, lifeless locks. I get so many compliments, my hubby loves them, and they are such a confidence booster for mamas who are struggling like I was!

My extensions are the 18" Hidden Crown extensions in Dark Brown #2. Click HERE to check out a video with more details on how to wear the Hidden Crown Hair Extensions!
