January 2019 - Like Honey

Pink White Hot Chocolate

Looking for a sweet way to warm up this Valentine's season? Satisfy your sweet tooth and snuggle up with a warm mug of this PINK white hot chocolate! It's rich, festive, and perfect for a cozy night in by the fire, celebrating a day of love!

Have you ever made hot cocoa from scratch? It's so incredibly easy and tastes so much better than the mix kind. The best part is it only takes a few minutes to whip up a whole batch and you can control the ingredients so you know exactly what's going into your mug. I bet this would be delicious with other flavors like coffee or caramel, too!

Even the kids loved this fun hot cocoa recipe! It's a delicious treat after playing outside in the snow that the whole family will enjoy! You can customize the recipe in any color you like, or leave it plain white and just enjoy it with your sweetie on a cold winter's night! If you're having a Valentine's date night in, this is the perfect addition!

What do you have planned for Valentine's Day this year? Do you prefer a night on the town or an intimate night in?

Gold Chenille Cardigan

To say I'm obsessed with this cardigan is an understatement...it's chenille, it's mustard/gold, and it's a classic length that'll never go out of style! I actually snagged this from my salon, Chic Salon & Boutique (highly recommend if you're in the St Charles, MO area!), but saw a similar one at Target the other day! It's actually on clearance and almost sold out so run quick and check your local store for FREE in store pick up!

I've paired this golden cardigan with emerald green, leopard print, blush pink, and black and loved them all! But I love how this crisp white peplum really brightens the whole look. I almost wore my hot pink Rayne necklace, too, but thought it would be too matchy-matchy with the pink flats. I really like how the white on white looks instead!

Anyone else trying to break out more brights in hopes of bringing on spring? What's your favorite color to pair with mustard/gold? I'd love to try out some new ideas!

Blush Peplum Sweater + A Touch of Vintage Flair

I have a love for neutral sweaters that knows no bounds. I've had this darling pale blush peplum number since last summer (found on clearance for just $10!) and couldn't wait to wear this winter! I'm wearing it as a spring transition look here, but I've worn it with dark wash high-waisted denim and loved the way it looked for fall and winter, too! You can shop similar sweaters below to recreate this look yourself:

I'm not a huge jewelry wear-er, as you may have noticed around here, and like to keep things pretty simple and classic. This vintage brooch is one of my favorites and is a delicate, feminine way to accessorize any sweater without the weight of a large necklace. I think I'd like to build my brooch collection, so I'll keep you posted if I find any pretty new gems! Do you have a favorite accessory or vintage piece that you love? Tell me about it in the comments!

Classic Stripes & Leopard

If you're ever afraid of the pattern mixing trend, just go for classic black and white stripes + a pattern of your choice. I swear, it works with just about anything: leopard, plaid, polka dots, colorful patterns, and more! Today I went with my tried and true leopard scarf because there's just nothing easier than black and white mixed with leopard!

This is one of those outfits I keep in my arsenal for effortless casual style in a hurry. When I don't have time to think up an outfit or just don't want to look frumpy while running errands, this is my go-to! What do you reach for when you're racing out the door?

So, we didn't get the big snow storm we were told to expect all week, but the bitter cold doesn't seem to be going anywhere yet, so I'm literally living in the coziest sweaters I can possibly find. Nothing beats cuddling up on the couch with a sweet new puppy (head to my Instagram to meet our new goldendoodle, Hazel!) in a fuzzy and warm sweater. If you're looking to retreat from the frigid temps or just in need of some cute new duds to get you through the rest of winter, look no further. I've rounded up 13 of the toastiest tops so you can get shopping--without leaving the house:

Orchid Balloon Sleeve Sweater

I think I'm going to start calling this the mystery sweater! I discovered it on a Target run a few weeks back and swooned over the color, but when I felt how soft it was I HAD to have it! For some reason, I can NOT find it online! I have searched and searched with absolutely no luck! I thought maybe it was just because it was new, but I've had it for about 4 weeks now and still haven't seen it pop up on the site. Thankfully, if you're as smitten with this springy lilac hue as I am, Target has another cute option available right now! If the statement sleeves are more you thing, I've linked a similar Target sweater for you, too!

If you ever wonder what a blogger does with their hands during a photoshoot when they forget to bring a bag, clutch, or token Starbucks cup...this is it. Oops. Totally dropped the ball on this shoot! It was kind of a fun challenge, though! My fellow blogger gals will know what I mean ;)

Since this color has me dreaming of spring, I went with white denim. It's such an easy way to make a winter sweater instantly work for those colder spring months! We are expecting a whole new round of snow this weekend, so I'll be on the sweater weather train for a little while longer. Are you done with sweaters or still looking for new ways to wear them? I love hearing where y'all are from!

I don't know about you, but I'm definitely over this hideous cold weather! As much as I love a little snow and wearing all the cozy clothes, I really just need a touch of sunshine lately! This bright orchid sweater was just the thing to lighten my mood--even if the weather wouldn't cooperate to match it.
