Corduroy Pinafore Dress

I remember wearing little jumper dresses as a kid in the 90's, usually with a turtleneck that I hated and itchy tights that I fought my mother tooth and nail over. This button front version is a fun way to upgrade an old classic, without looking childish. I love the length and that the color works with so many different tops! Funnily enough, I fully intended on wearing this jumper with a basic white sweater underneath (and probably will in future!), but when I pulled it out of my closet I saw this sweater from last fall sitting on top of my sweater pile and realized it was a perfect match! I love when I come up with new ideas right in my closet--it's great for my wallet!

As for accessories, I've fully embraced the beret this season! I love how it adds just a little something extra and that I don't have to worry about it taking off with any autumn breezes. It's also a great way to tame any wayward cowlicks if you're running short on time in the mornings (or hide unsightly third day hair when you run out of dry shampoo...)! This year, it was finally time for me to replace my everyday brown booties. I found these on a recent shopping trip and ended up loving them so much I bought them in two colors! They're very comfortable--wore them for the first time for an entire day walking with no blisters or discomfort, completely true to size--I almost always need a half size up for pointed toes but I got my usual 8 with these, and a versatile style that can be dressed up or down--the suede material and pointed toe looks chic with dresses and makes casual jeans + sweaters look more neat and pulled together.

The only complaint I'll add is that if you've wider hips, you might need to keep an eye on some of your lower buttons. The very bottom one kept popping open on me when I walked. It wasn't a big deal, as it wasn't in a revealing spot, but just something to keep in mind! I believe this pinafore is already being clearanced out so snag one fast before sizes run out!

Floral Babydoll Dress for Fall

If I could encompass fall into one outfit, it might be this one! This dress doesn't look like much online, but blessedly I saw it in person first and the color palette just stole my autumn-craving heart! It does run very short--I'm 5'3" with a long torso and my usual size small was basically a t-shirt! I sized up to a medium not expecting a huge change in length and ended up loving it. The sleeves are a bit baggier as a result, but I'll take it!

Do you ever just see a color palette or pattern you can't get over? I've had a black floral dress in my wishlist forever but just couldn't find the right one. I needed it to dress up or down and didn't want it to feel goth or heavy. This one finally met the mark and I can't wait to style it with black tights and accessories when it finally cools off! What an Indian summer we're having!

Did I mention this cute location yet? We shot these pictures outside of Ellbee's General Store in Wentzville, MO! It's the cutest little old fashioned general store with a stunning array of unique candies and tasty treats, as well as darling home decor and gifts. The kids both got a bag of candy (old-fashioned, by the pound!), I finally got to try my first ever macaron (spoiler: I loved it!), and Preston got his daily coffee fix (which I may have borrowed for pictures...thanks, babe)! I definitely need to come back to check out their fully stocked soda fountain! We love finding little local stops like this to check out before church. If you're local to the area, I'd love to send you more recs and invite you to church! We go to First Baptist Church Wentzville and love our church family there.

I actually planned to wear this outfit to a fall festival after this, but the heat came barreling in when we got out of church, so we had to go home to change. As soon as it finally cools off and gets crisp, I'll be wearing this on repeat. I can't wait to style it again for y'all in darker hues!

I'm so excited that fall festival season is upon us, even if it still feels like Fourth of July. Being surrounded by pumpkins and cozy crafts is my favorite way to spend a weekend, and I love taking the kids to enjoy local fare and free activities. The food trucks aren't bad either....
